A highly motivated broadcast and marketing professional with experience working across a range of sports.
I have most recently managed my own independent production company, and have successfully built up strong relationships with a number of leading media rights agencies, broadcasters, sports governing bodies, facilities partners and currently manage the production and media rights distribution for a British Olympic National Governing Body
EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Avanti Sport (Owner): August 2009 - Present
When I left Point Zero Productions (below), I acquired Avanti Sport so I could focus on my passion for sports production, and have since been successful in establishing strong relationships with a number of sports governing bodies, broadcasters, partners and suppliers. Avanti currently produces and distributes coverage for all of British Handball’s home international fixtures, and regularly send crews to events across Europe, such as to Finland to cover the GB men’s squad for BBC Sport. I have also worked in an informal capacity with the British Olympic Association, on strategy development around marginally funded Olympic sports coverage production and rights distribution.
Point Zero Productions: September 2008 - July 2009
Chief Operating Officer at Point Zero Productions – an independent TV production company. During my time at PZP I helped re-focus the business on niche programming production, launched Avanti Sport as a dedicated sports production unit and implemented a stepped investment program to upgrade all existing production equipment to High Definition. I also managed general business development and day-to-day communication and relationships with key clients, as well as creating a roster of top local and regional editors to bolster our post-production offering.
Adeptio Sports Management: February 2008 - September 2008
Partnerships & Marketing Manager at Adeptio owned Squash360.com – an international squash media website. I managed a varied team of international squash journalists, contributors and photographers as well as being responsible for developing and maintaining relationships and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders in the sport, such as sponsors, event promoters, players, club owners and federations. I successfully developed new revenue streams for the business, including the implementation of an integrated sponsorship program around our major event coverage and exclusive online video content.
NVision Sports (Owner): December 2005 - November 2007
In 2005 I started my own limited company in order to allow me to become more actively involved in the business side of squash. The company was reasonably successful and I worked with clients such as the Women’s International Squash Players Association on the sports first ever worldwide fan research project, Virtual Spectator Intl on SquashTrac and ScoreVision technology systems, Vantage Sport on marketing communications strategy development and ASB Babinsky Systemabau GmbH on the development of squash court camera training systems.
INTERESTS & ACHIEVEMENTS
I have always been passionate about sport and business – I am a keen squash player and regularly play tennis, badminton and cycle. Some of my other interests include socialising with friends, reading and music.
One of my most defining personal experiences was in 2005, when I worked on the inaugural ‘ATCO Saudi Arabia International Squash Championships’ under the guidance of the PSA men’s world tour Technical Director, Robert Edwards.
He taught me about the principles of sportsmanship which are crucial within business, such as hard work, discipline, commitment, putting passion into everything you do, honesty, responsibility, integrity, believing in yourself and in the team that is around you, respect for other people and never being afraid of anyone and never giving up.
