About me

I am passionate about entertainment media and story telling and have experimented with many different platforms such as photography, graphics, music technology and the written word however my favourite platform is definitely moving image as I feel it can enable me to express and communicate my ideas. I am accomplished editor and a keen cameraman, but I am particularly interested in directing and am eager to gain any experience of the media industry, particularly of production that I can.

I have experience with a number of formats including drama, comedy, documentary and music video and have an understanding of the conventions of these formats; I am Currently studying Broadcast Operations and Production at Ravensbourne Collage of Communication, where I am student representative for my class and am constantly advancing this understanding wile gaining valuable technical experience with media technology, but I’d relish the opportunity to expand my knowledge of the media industry and develop my abilities by working with other professionals.

Experience

BAFTA, Summer 2009: BAFTA have a Film tent at Latitude Festival, I was part of a three man team which were in charge of documenting their contraption to the festival. I was principally in charge of sound, however being the most experienced member of the team I advised the camera men as well as doing some of the shooting myself.

TALKBACK THAMES, Summer 2008 – Present: I have worked for Talkback Thames ‘The Bill’ as a camera runner, a role that includes general running duties as well as more camera specific duties, such as taking care of the leses and cameras some grip work and being used as an auxiliary camera assistant.

HUGE Productions, Spring 2006 – Spring 2007: Huge are a small company who make short films and music videos; I have worked on many projects for them including a publicity piece commissioned by ‘Jenaration’ featuring live music performances and a documentary to be used as part of an installation commissioned by the ‘Youth National Heritage’.

For these projects I had to direct and shoot original footage using Cannon XL and Sony DCR Mini DV Camcorders as well as gathering existing material. I also edited the first with Avid Xpress Pro 4.3 and the second with Final Cut Pro 5, created graphics for both with Adobe Photoshop CS2 and authoring DVD’s for both using DVD Studio Pro 3.

LIME Ltd. Autumn 2006: Lime is a Post-Production company situated in Soho London, I did work experience at this company as a runner; my responsibilities included running stock footage between the lime offices and other Soho based post production houses such as Framestore, making sure the clients of lime where happy bringing them food and drinks on request and maintaining the general upkeep of the office.

REDNETIC records, Winter 2005: Rednetic are a London based record label that produces electronic music. In addition to album releases they also produce promotional DVDs. This project involved creating a music video for a piece of music by ‘Vizier of Dmascus’.

I directed this project, shot it using Canon XL mini DV camcorders and edited and graded the project using Avid Xpress Pro 4.3.

POPTONES records, Spring 2005: Poptones is Allen McGee’s record company who have produced music by bands like ‘The Hives’ and ‘The Paddingtons’. I was brought on board a project to make a music video directed by Rob Brandon for a song by ‘Echelon called ‘This Room’.

On this project I was the lighting cameraman, I had to invent a lighting concept and shoot a large portion of the piece.
