Currently studying a BA in Television production at the Harrow campus of University of Wesminster. I have picked up some very useful skills including Camera operation, sound engineering and practice with being a producer. I am also learning general media skills such as the new media and newspapers as this will give me an idea of how the industry is changing and therefore I will be able to adapt to any new mediums of the TV sector.
I grew up in Suffolk and finished my A-levels 2 years ago (studying Maths, German and Economics) and then decided to take a gap year. I travelled to Australasia; worked as an English teacher in Germany; and finished the 'gap year' off with a trip around eastern Europe.
Im really interested in the media, especially TV, because its always changing and I really like to be tested by changes. Also I find my life being increasingly more aware of all media outputs, so I'm itching to be a part of it.
I have many other interests, especially in music. From being in bands and solo projects, I would really like my job to have a musical influence to it. Be it in productions of live concerts or music videos.
My experience in 'The media' has been very varied. Last year, I started working for a small magazine based in east Anglia called 'Maddog' as a music journalist conducting interviews and writeups of festivals and bands. This was a great way for me to get involved with the writing side of media and has tought me about deadlines and presentaion.
I also worked for a local radio station in Ipswich as a producer and researcher. Again another great experience which really opened my eyes to the world of live media, where the high stress and 'one chance' work definitely fed my passion for the industry.
Other work has included production and marketing for a professional theatre company and some promotional shorts camera work and editing.
Before starting my course in Television, my 'TV' experience was small. However, since the beginning of the course, I have totally immersed myself within the lessons and out of hours experiences. I've now had experience with filming and sound recording for interviews, promotional/informative shows and also news conferences.
